
Retired Lawrence Police Officer David Martin Augusta, 63, of Salem, New Hampshire passed away peacefully Friday, February 11th, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on July 31st, 1947 in Lawrence to the late Anthony and Alice (Andrade) Augusta. Mr. Augusta was educated in the local schools. According to his family he was very proud of serving in the United States Army in Vietnam.
Mr. Augusta was a graduate of the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Counsel in Topsfield, where he later taught. He also taught classes at U-Mass Lowell. He was on the Lawrence Police Department for 26 years until his retirement. He was a life-member of the D.A.V and the V.F.W.
David enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially lived for his grandchildren and loved to spend time with his family.
David would always lend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors.

And his long-time childhood friend Francis Preneveau.
He was predeceased by his brothers John and Bill.

Methuen, MA – Bernard L. "Buddy” Keyes died Tuesday June 8, 2010 at Academy Manor Nursing Home in Andover.
Born in Lawrence December 22, 1928 Mr. Keyes was the son of the late Lindsey and Mary (MacLellen) Keyes. Before Buddy’s retirement he was a Manager with AT&T of North Andover for many years.
During the Korean Conflict he served his country in the United States Army from 1951-1953 before being honorably discharged with the rank of Sargeant 1st class.
During Korea Buddy was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal w/2 Bronze Service Stars and the United Nations Service Medal.
Buddy enjoyed traveling with Gloria and visited his family in NewYork often.
He was a member of Methuen Post 122 American Legion and also the Arnold Greenwood Post 8349 in Methuen.
Mr. Keyes was the widower of Pauline C. (Corriveau) Keyes.
He is survived by his daughter; Patricia and her husband Philip Tullgren, of New York, Grand Daughters; Laura Hebsch, Jillian Tullgren, friend Gloria Rizzo, his sister Janet and her husband Atty. Clifford Elias, and his brother Frank and his friend Mary Mcgrath.
Buddy was predeceased by his sister Barbara Riddle.
Friends will be warmly received on Friday from 6PM - 8PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
A Graveside committal service will take place on Saturday.

Mr. Chretien was born in Lawrence, son of the late Roland R. Sr. and Lucia (Dallaire) Chretien. Roland was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and attended the University of New Hampshire.
For 22 years he was a heavy equipment operator with the Town of Methuen.
Roland was a communicant of Saint Lucy Church in Methuen and was a collector at the Saturday 4 o'clock Mass.. He was also the former Quartermaster, past commander, and board member as well as life member of the Arnold Greenwood Post 8349 VFW, and was a member of the Post 122 American Legion.
Roland served his country from 1951-1959 during Korea and Vietnam in the United States Marine Corp. before being honorably discharged. He was a Purple Heart recipient.
Roland is survived by his wife of 30 years; Diane M. (Bohne) Chretien, his daughters, Jennifer Chretien Burke, Veronica and husband Steven Cyr, all from Methuen, Kristina and her husband Jonathan LaRoche of Derry, N.H.; his sons, Michael Chretien of Lawrence, Raymond Chretien and his wife Jeannette from Quincy, Roland "Chris" Chretien III and his wife Michelle of Haverhill, Mark Chretien and his wife Karen of Derry, N.H. and David Chretien from Plaistow, N.H.; three sisters, Lisa Mercado of Methuen, Marguerite Hatch of Salisbury, and Marie Buckley of Sandown, N.H.; two brothers, Robert of Methuen and Joseph from Maine, 17 grand and two great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Sheila Gawrys and his son Roger Chretien.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Saint Lucy's Church of Methuen, with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. ![]() METHUEN — Bruno P. Turchi, 84, of Methuen, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends on Friday, Oct. 16, 2009 at Caritas Holy Family Hospital. Mr Turchi was born in Nashua, N.H. and was raised and educated in Methuen. He had lived in Methuen all of his life. For over 35 years, he was employed by Western Electric Company and Lucent Technologies of North Andover. He had also owned and operated the family business, the former Oakland Granite Co. of Methuen. Bruno was a decorated World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of Methuen American Legion Post 122, a member of Methuen VFW Post 8349 and a member of Salem, N.H. VFW Post 8546 and was very active with the Amvets of Haverhill. Bruno was also a member of the National Rifle His family members include his daughters, Lynn D. Turchi and her partner Kim Rabold of Methuen, and Debra P. Walsh of Chelmsford. He also leaves his grandsons, Atty. Keith and his wife Mary Anne Walsh of Waltham, Jeffery Walsh and his companion Lindsay Arena of Lowell, and Clayton and Zachary Rabold of Methuen. Bruno leaves his former wife, Emma Chahanovich of Salem, N.H.; a nephew, Charlie and his wife Mary Hausler of Paramus, N.J. and their children, Kimberly and Chase; and a niece, Laura Hausler of Pennsylvania. ![]() METHUEN — Vietnam War veteran, Chester P. Kozdra, 63, of Methuen, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009 at the V.A. Hospital in West Roxbury. Born and educated in Lawrence, he was the son of Chester H. and Virginia (Andrews) Kozdra. During the Vietnam War he served in the U.S. Army, he received and honorable discharge and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, Air Medal and two Purple Hearts. He was a member of the American Legion in Derry, N.H. and the V.F.W. Post 8349 in Methuen. He leaves his wife of 38 years, Donna L. (Kern) Kozdra of Methuen; four children, Charlene A. Kozdra of New Hampshire, Chad P. Kozdra and his wife Khrista of Hillsborough, N.H., Paula L. Berry and her husband Mark of Methuen, and Kellie A. ![]() WINDHAM, N.H. — William M. Thornton, 83, of Windham, N.H., formerly of Lawrence, passed away Monday, July 20, 2009 at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, N.H. He was born in Lawrence and was the son of the late Michael and Katherine (O'Brien) Thornton. William was raised in Lawrence and was a graduate of Lawrence High School and also attended Boston University. He was a World War II United States Army veteran and lived in Lawrence for many years and moved to Windham, N.H. in 1978. William worked for the Essex county Sheriff's Office as a Correctional Officer and retired after 20 years as a Captain. He was a member of Lawrence Lodge of Elks 65 and the Methuen V.F.W. Greenwood Post. He was the husband of the late Irene (Harvey) Thornton and is survived by a son, Michael W. Thornton of Winnisquam, N.H.; daughters, Carole A. Gath and her husband Michael of Windham, N.H. and Robin M. Moreau of Salem, N.H.; and grandchildren, Brent and Todd Gath, Derek and Cassandra Thornton, Justine and Julien Moreau.
